If you use a True Bypass Looper that needs Insert Cables for its stereo loops, or you want to use your volume pedal as an expression pedal, or access your pedals built in FX Loop - These TRS to Dual Mono Cables are for you!

TRS to Dual Mono cables are also known as Y Cables,  Breakout Cables or Insert Cables and can be used for a variety of applications.

If you have an RJM Mastermind PBC then you'll know that the stereo loops only have two jacks (instead of the typical 4) per loop to save space.  These jacks are TRS which means tip and ring are carrying the left and right signal, and sleeve is ground.  These Audio Insert Cables are just what you need.

Plug Types

TS and TRS Pancake - These are a low profile right angle jack that allow pedals to be placed close to each other and will generally suit most applications on your board. However, don't use TRS pancakes for Insert Cables on True Bypass units. They tend to be a bit too big

TS and TRS Right Angle - These are needed when a pedal has jacks close together, like the Boss DD-7. The TRS Right Angle will work on an RJM PBC10 (bottom row will need to be angled down, top row angled up), they are too long to work on a PBC 6x without a slight riser under the 6x to give more clearance.

TS and TRS Short-Body Straight - The most common application for these is a true bypass looper where right angle jacks cannot be used.  Since these jacks do not have strain relief, they are best suited for pedalboard and rack applications.

TS and TRS Minicake - These are an ultra low profile jack made to fit in tight spaces on your board.  Use this jack if saving space is your biggest priority.  These will work for the RJM PBC10 and 6X, however, you will need to raise the PBC 6x by about 1/4" for clearance.  Use short body straights if this isn't an option.

Which is left and which is right?

The Goodwood Audio standard - tip is left and ring is right.  One of the cables has a stripe.  This cable will always be soldered to the ring of the TRS jack.

If you plan to use a mono effect in one of the stereo loops of the PBC you will need TRS (floating ring) to TS and TRS (tip & ring joined) to TS cables.  Please email us before placing your order so we can confirm what you require.

Another common use for Y cables is to insert effects into another pedal's effects loop.  Once again, to save space it is usual to find a TRS jack as the insert point.

Which is send and which is return?

Our standard is that tip is send and ring is return.  One of the cables has a stripe. This cable will always be soldered to the ring of the TRS jack.  Please note that our standard might not be the same as your pedal.  Please consult with it's manufacturer to find out which is send and which is return on you pedal.

All TRS to dual mono cables use Mogami cable with a combination of Switchcraft, G&H, Minicake Plugs and Goodwood Audio plugs.

TRS stands for tip ring sleeve.  Tip and ring will carry either left and right, or, send and return information.  Sleeve is the common ground.

Dual mono can also be called Dual TS or DM.  TS stands for tip sleeve, which is a standard instrument or patch cable.
